Vintage 1940s 40s Suit Tan Tweed Nipped Waist by Glenhunt B38 W26
Vintage 1940's suit. Fabric is a lightweight wool tweed with a tan/pinkish background dotted with orange, green, blue and brown flecks. The tight weave is comprised of many different colors which makes the exact background color questionable.
Jacket has the wasp waist styling which creates the hour glass shaping, single line of front buttons, and small lay collar. Two side flap covered pockets with an upper left angled open pocket. Sleeves are long with narrow winged cuffs which can be worn down for more arm length or up. Lining is a beautiful tanish rayon fabric and it is in wonderful condition.
Skirt is almost a-line style, but I would consider it closer to a pencil style, set on a waist band with no gathers. Closes at the waist band with a side snaps and metal zipper. Back has a single closed kick pleat. Partially lined.
The condition is just lovely, no issues at all. It is in lovely clean condition showing no wear or age at all.
Label reads: Imported Fabric Woven Exclusively Glenhunt Town & Country Clothes. Also there is a store label Globe of Petersburg VA.
No size is indicated so please check the measurements below carefully to ensure a perfect fit. Keep in mind there is NO give to this fabric. Measurements were taken while laying flat.
Skirt waist is 26 inches and there is a little room for adjustment by moving the snaps, hips are 40 inches, and total length is 25 1/2 inches.
Jacket bust is 38 inches, waist is 30 inches, shoulder span is 16 inches, sleeve length is 23 1/2 inches with the cuffs up, and total length is 26 inches.
